Brochure

The Extron NetPA U 1004 is a Dante-enabled, ENERGY STAR qualified power amplifier that delivers four 100 watt channels in a half rack, 1U, plenum rated enclosure. With its integrated DSP, the NetPA U 1004 includes essential signal processing that offers the ability to meet the requirements of complex, decentralized systems while Dante Domain Manager and AES67 support ensure wide compatibility with enterprise configurations and other network audio devices. Exceptional thermal design provides the ability to install units without using rack spaces for ventilation, conserving precious rack space. The NetPA U 1004 is a highly efficient advanced Class D amplifier that features defeatable auto?standby with fast wake up and our patented CDRS – Class D Ripple Suppression.

Dante Audio Networking

Dante provides scalable audio transport, with Dante Domain Manager support, over a local area network using standard Internet protocols. The family of Dante-enabled products from Extron work together as part of a complete networked audio system solution and integrate with other Dante-enabled products to create efficient system designs. With AES67 support, NetPA amplifiers accommodate a range of audio routing needs in a variety of applications.

Setting up a network of Extron Dante-enabled products requires Dante Controller software. Dante Controller is used to easily assign an output from a Dante-enabled device, such as an Extron DMP Plus Series processor, to an input on a NetPA Ultra amplifier.

Integrated DSP

A built in 8x8 mix matrix allows any analog or Dante input to be routed to any amplifier output or Dante / analog output combo. The integrated DSP features essential processing such as gain adjustment, filters, dynamics, ducking, and delay. The Dante and analog line outputs are parallel with each other, separate from the amplifier outputs, for flexibility.

Control and Monitoring

Network and RS-232 provide connections for control of amplifier parameters as well as monitoring of the amplifier's status.

Analog Line Outputs

The post input DSP analog line outputs allow for connection of additional amplifiers, simplifying connection to the source while maintaining consistent processing. These line outputs have processing separate from the amp outputs to account for unique delay and level requirements.

High Channel Density

The NetPA U 1004 doesn't require empty rack spaces for cooling or external transformers, allowing it to deliver more channels per rack space compared to competitive amplifiers. This is made possible by Extron's advanced thermal engineering, which includes fanless convection cooling, no chassis heatsinks, and Everlast power supplies. The cumulative effect of hundreds of precise design choices enables many NetPA U 1004 units to be placed in an equipment rack without the need to waste rack space for ventilation above the amplifiers.

Designed by Extron

Every circuit in a NetPA Ultra power amplifier is designed by our team of dedicated power amplifier engineers, ensuring that every Extron amplifier meets our high standards of excellence. By designing everything in-house, Extron engineers can meticulously optimize every detail for maximum performance, reliability, power efficiency and reduced heat.

High Efficiency

With tested and measured efficiency benchmarks up to 77%, the NetPA Ultra uses less electricity to generate the same amount of power. This has the direct benefit of lower electricity costs and less power infrastructure required.

Cool Operation

A NetPA Ultra amplifier runs up to 28% cooler, with up to 49% less power wasted as heat, and up to 59% less radiated heat compared to competitive amplifiers. Electronics that run cooler, last longer and don’t transfer heat to other gear sharing the same rack. The low radiated heat of the NetPA Ultra amplifiers, enabled by our advanced thermal engineering, saves on cooling costs and allows more channels of amplification to be put into fewer rack spaces.

Fast Wake from Standby

The NetPA U 1004 meets ENERGY STAR qualification requirements with an auto power-down feature that places the amplifier into standby after 25 minutes of inactivity. When in standby, the NetPA U 1004 draws less than four watts of power. It quickly comes out of standby upon detection of signal in under 100 milliseconds, fast enough that the beginning of audio is not cut off. When coming out of standby, the NetPA U 1004 draws minimal inrush current, creating no sudden demand on power systems. For applications where the amplifier is required to remain active at all times, the NetPA Ultra provides the ability to defeat auto-standby while maintaining ENERGY STAR status.

Rock-Solid Reliability

Product reliability is a high priority at Extron and we go to great lengths to engineer products with industry-leading low failure rates, driven by rigorous testing of everything we ship. From the elimination of short-lived electrolytic capacitors in the signal path, to PCB designs that exclude the use of failure-prone wire harnesses, to accelerated burn-in testing, the NetPA U 1004 is engineered by Extron for many years of service.

Features

  • Receives audio from the Dante audio network and from analog mic/line level inputs — Select a channel from any remote Dante-enabled device on the network, or an analog source, to be brought into the NetPA U 1004 for amplification.
  • 100 watts rms output power per channel at 8 ohms, 4 ohms, or 70/100V — All channels driven
  • ENERGY STAR qualified amplifier with defeatable auto-standby and fast wake up — The NetPA U 1004 is an ENERGY STAR qualified amplifier and energy efficient product that conserves energy and reduces costs. The NetPA U 1004 meets ENERGY STAR qualification requirements with an auto-standby feature that automatically places the amplifier into standby after 25 minutes of inactivity, dramatically reducing power consumption. The NetPA U 1004 quickly returns to full power status in less than 100 ms upon signal detection, with minimal inrush current. Auto-standby can be disabled if required.
  • Single and dual rack mount hardware included — The included single and side by side rack mount hardware simplifies planning and saves cost.
  • New Integrated DSP — 8x8 mix matrix provides essential DSP processing including level control, filters, dynamics, ducking, and delay
  • Convection cooled, fanless operation - can be stacked without extra rack space for ventilation — The NetPA U 1004 does not require internal fans or vents for cooling, ensuring quiet, reliable operation. It generates substantially less heat than conventional power amplifiers, making it ideal for rack-mount applications where space is at a premium.
  • Extron Patented CDRS™ - Class D Ripple Suppression — CDRS is an Extron Patented technology that provides a smooth, clean audio waveform and an improvement in signal fidelity over conventional Class D amplifier designs. CDRS eliminates the high frequency switching ripple characteristic of Class D amplifiers, a source of RF emissions which can interfere with sensitive AV equipment such as wireless microphones.
