Brochure

The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI Fiber Optic Receiver is a modular board designed for the PowerCage® 1600 enclosure that enables long haul transmission of HDCP-compliant HDMI, stereo audio, and RS-232 control signals over fiber optic cabling. Engineered for reliability and exceptional high resolution image performance, it uses Extron all-digital technology to deliver perfect pixel-for-pixel transmission of HDMI computer-video images up to WUXGA 1920x1200 resolution, including HDTV 1080p/60. The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI also includes many integrator-friendly features such as Key Minder®, Auto Input Memory, audio de-embedding, internal test patterns, and real-time system monitoring.

The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI is part of the extensive FOX Series of fiber optic products from Extron, and is compatible with the complete line of FOX Series HDMI, DVI Plus, DVI, VGA, and VGA/YUV transmitters. The receiver can be used for simple point-to-point applications or in combination with FOX Series switchers and matrix switchers for support of enterprise installations.

The double-slot board design of the PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI allows for as many as eight receivers to be populated in the PowerCage 1600 enclosure, reducing installation time and simplifying power management. The receiver is hot-swappable, allowing board replacement in the field at any time without having to power down the system.

The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI is ideal for a wide range of applications requiring long distance transmission of high resolution content with the highest quality. Because transmission of content is inherently secure and immune to outside interference, fiber applications are favored in government, military, and medical environments. The receiver features industry standard LC-type connectivity.

The receiver is available in two versions, multimode and singlemode. The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI MM board supports multimode fiber at 850 nm, which is typically used within buildings or facilities with moderate-range transmission distances. The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI SM board supports singlemode fiber at 1310 nm. Singlemode fiber offers long-range transmission capability over extreme distances of up to 30 km (18.75 miles). It is used in very large facilities such as airports and stadiums, as well as connecting over very long distances between facilities such as university campuses.

The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI features Key Minder to enhance and simplify integration of HDMI-equipped devices. For HDMI signals with protected content, Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption to support quick and reliable transmission across a fiber optic infrastructure. If HDCP-encrypted content is sent to a non-compliant display, a full-screen green signal provides immediate visual notification that the protected content cannot be viewed on the display.

Analog RGB/HD Component-to-HDMI Conversion

The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI is ideal for AV systems that include a variety of analog and digital displays and sources. Pairing the receiver with a FOX Series VGA or VGA/YUV transmitter provides easy conversion of analog RGB/HD component to HDMI for non-HDCP content.

The Extron FOX Series, which includes the PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI receiver for the PowerCage 1600, provides integrators and system designers with the most complete fiber optic product offering in the industry.

Features

  • Accepts fiber optic signals from a FOX Series transmitter and provides HDMI video, stereo audio, and RS-232 control signals — Accepts signals from Extron FOX Series HDMI, DVI Plus, DVI, VGA, and VGA/YUV transmitters for integration flexibility.
  • Outputs: HDMI connector, balanced/unbalanced stereo audio on captive screw connector
  • HDCP compliant
  • All-digital technology provides pixel-for-pixel performance with signals up to 1920x1200, including HDTV 1080p/60 — The PowerCage™ FOX Rx HDMI delivers pixel-for-pixel transmission of video signals to ensure optimal image quality at resolutions up to 1920x1200.
  • Key Minder® continuously verifies HDCP compliance for quick, reliable switching — Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices to ensure quick and reliable switching in professional AV environments, while enabling simultaneous distribution of a single source to multiple displays.
  • Modular, hot-swappable board designed for the PowerCage 1600 enclosure, part # 60-978-01 — Additional boards may be added at any time for quick and easy upgradeability or expansion. Hot-swappable components allow the user to replace boards at any time without the need to power down the system. This is especially useful for mission-critical applications that require continuous system operation.
  • HDMI audio de-embedding with analog stereo outputs — Digital HDMI audio is made available as a balanced or unbalanced analog stereo signal on captive screw connectors.
  • Audio muting capability
  • Selectable HDMI audio pass-through — The user can control whether the HDMI output passes audio by setting a toggle switch on the receiver board.
  • HDCP Visual Confirmation — When HDCP?encrypted content is transmitted to a non?HDCP compliant display, a full?screen green signal is sent to the display for immediate visual confirmation that protected content cannot be viewed on that display.
  • Space-saving design enables up to eight fiber optic receivers to be mounted in a single, compact 3U enclosure — The double-slot design allows up to eight boards to be installed in the PowerCage 1600 enclosure. The PowerCage 1600 eliminates individual power supplies for each board, and provides forced-air cooling for each module.
  • Available as an 850 nm multimode model for moderate-range transmissions up to 2 km (1.25 miles) and a 1310 nm singlemode model for extreme distances up to 30 km (18.75 miles)
  • Industry standard LC connectors provide reliable physical connectivity and precise fiber core alignment
  • Alarm notification for fiber link loss — The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI can be set up to trigger an external control system for immediate notification when a fiber link has been lost.
  • Auto Input Memory — When activated, the receiver automatically stores position and detail settings based on the incoming signal. When that signal is detected again, the proper image settings are automatically recalled from memory.
  • 30 user memory presets — In addition to Auto Memory, 30 user memory presets are available for saving and recall of position and detail information for multiple incoming sources. The ability to save and recall presets is useful in switcher-based environments.
  • RS-232 control — The PowerCage FOX Rx HDMI features an RS-232 serial port for control and configuration.
  • Internal test patterns for calibration and setup — Three test patterns are available, including grayscale, color bars, and alternating pixels.
  • Compatible with Extron FOX Matrix Switchers for signal distribution systems up to 1000x1000 and larger
  • Compatible with Extron FOX Series switchers
  • Compatible with Extron FOX Series HDMI, DVI Plus, DVI, VGA, and VGA/YUV transmitters
